Religious leaders call for 40 days of peace in Pilsen

Catholic and Christian Churches along with other Faith Based organizations located in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood, will begin their “40 Days of Peace” Campaign on Ash Wednesday, March 2. All 7 churches, Resurrection Project and Healthy Hood volunteers will be prayer leaders outside neighborhood train stations to pray with passengers and pedestrians calling on them to be peacemakers during the 40 days of peace starting on Ash Wednesday and continuing throughout the 40 days of the Lenten season.

This coalition, known as the Pilsen Faith Table Initiative, calls on all churches, businesses and neighbors of Pilsen to be peacemakers in the neighborhood and together seek an end to violence. The theme of the campaign is “We are called to be peacemakers.” The group calls on neighbors, businesses and faith leaders to share signs of peace throughout the traditional 40 days of Lent.
